Forum Channel feature availability schedule?

When will this feature be more widely available? It shows up in the FAQ as being in beta testing, but as far as I can tell it's been around for some servers for around 6 months. I can only create Text and Voice channel types.

Is it a by-request-only sort of thing, do they randomly select servers to get the functionality, or how is it done?
