Copy Overwatch's autohide feature

Overwatch's text chat is very unintrusive and tries to be as invisible as possible. When not in use, it does not display at all. When there is activity, such as a new message, the message window appears but only for a moderately short amount of time before hiding again and even then, without a backdrop.

Hitting the message hotkey brings up the message window with a semi opaque background which can be quickly dismissed with ESC regardless of state. Hitting tab switches between the available channels.

I'd prefer if Discord's pinned overlay would work in the same way. Unless there's a new message, I don't want to see it at all, and when there is a new message, just a few seconds is enough.
