Clarify Discord TOS/Community Guidelines
So, I've been seeing people post about their accounts being “disabled” via email or not being notified at all. There have also been reports of getting no response for days, sometimes even months. Users have stated that their account being disabled was unclear and didn't specify what happened. This is my suggestion:
Please clarify your TOS/Community Guidelines. Be specific on why an account was either “disabled” or was given a warning in the emails that are issued to your users. For example: if a user is disabled for “spam and/or platform abuse,” give a specific example of what was said/done in order for an infraction to have occurred - a screenshot, maybe? In my opinion, the emails sent to users look to be automated and list reasons why their account was disabled/given a warning, not the specifics. If a user is disabled from their account, they probably won't be able to figure out why it occurred unless they can somehow find the messages that were sent in whatever server or direct messages the issue happened in to try and clear their name or find proof of no wrongdoing.
There have been cases of users going on other sites/off-platform to troubleshoot issues that occur on this platform or to get their account back with the assistance of someone else. I've seen posts of this on Twitter- or X as they call themselves now - and other people trying to scam those people of their money. Some people are very desperate - especially if they paid for Nitro or they use your platform to connect with family/close friends.
There have also been posts on here where users accounts have been hacked (clicking a link, being promised something, etc.) and they are having difficulty trying to get them back. I'm unsure if you have a policy/guideline on how this issue is taken care of, but people have been stating that their personal information is at risk.
In order for users to trust and understand the reason they have been reported, there needs to be clear communication and understanding between the Trust and Safety team and its users. If issues are left unresolved - as I've seen quite a bit of on here - users become incensed and will flood forums/feedback posts with their grievances to the moderation team.
Please take this into consideration moving forward. It's both sad and unfortunate to see these posts being made. To the users who are having these issues - I hope that they are resolved soon!
