BEWARE! Fake Discord accounts sending you DMs saying that you can be suspended for fradulent charges unless you send a random account a friend request
Today, I nearly fell for an obvious trap from a fake Discord account.
A Discord account sent me a DM at 3:15 PM CST saying that they needed help. I asked they what they needed help with, and they said that I would have my Discord account suspended and I would be IP banned for fradulent charges, because the user in question said they were scammed out of $2800 by another account with a VERY similar username impersonating my actual Discord account, right down to the profile picture and the bio.

A screenshot of the email they sent was incredibly unprofessional and didn't look like something from Discord when I took a second glance at it. There was multiple punctuation and spelling errors, and some words had incorrect capitalization, and the whole email was a mess. The email also stated to contact a certain account on Discord that was apparently the “corporate security head” with a checkmark next to their name, and when I actually SENT them a friend request, there was no checkmark. No “Discord Staff” badge. No nothing. At that point, I knew it was fake. I cancelled my friend request and I am lucky I didn't fall for this. Cause if I did, I could have lost my entire Discord account, or something even worse could have happened to it.

This has to be a violation of the Terms of Service. You are sending a random account a message telling them they have to get in contact with another Discord account just to not be affected by whatever ‘punishment’ is coming. So, if you get a message from a random Discord account, and they tell you that you could be suspended and IP banned from Discord, and they send you an email similar or exactly like this one, IGNORE IT, REPORT THEM, AND BLOCK THEM. They could be trying to get a hold of your Discord account to hack it… or even worse.
This is misinformation and it should be a bannable offense.

I think this actually happened to me, but I don't know. For me it was a Steam thing and to talk with another account (this one being @tomhcommunity).

It's a scam, that third party account, the one that contacted you initially, that was a compromised account.
I fell for this scam, and now no longer have access to my profile, it's been 57 days since with my ticket open and Discord has yet to do anything about it.
BEWARE OF MIKE BANG (another more widely known alias of this scam)

If this “staff” already accepted my friend request but i block them right after without sending messages, is there any way they could still hack me ?
