Windows - Fix updater to write new version number to registry
Discord does not write new version number to Windows registry on updates, which makes package managers like Winget believe an old version of Discord is installed.
Discord uses Squirrel, which have this issue as a known problem:
You could consider using a Squirrel.Windows fork where this is fixed, like Clowd.Squirrel ( https://github.com/clowd/Clowd.Squirrel/tree/master ) or Velopack ( https://github.com/velopack/velopack ).
Or fix it in Squirrel.Windows and contribute it back.

I've also had a ticket open since September 2023 about this, #39442805.

Hey there do you have a fix because my discord refuses to install currently. Im still looking for a fix for this. Even when it managed to install once, it refuses to open.

I'd try to properly remove existing installation of Discord and make sure leftovers are removed too. My go-to is Geek Uninstaller: https://geekuninstaller.com/download
Then install Discord again.

Hey olavrbi!
Ive seemed to find a fix to the issue, it effects plenty of election applications which utilise Squirrel including atom. https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/159eh1u/is_there_a_fix_for_the_13900k_crashing_with_intel/?sort=new
I have a i9-13980HX and it seems to share the same issue so my current solution was to change the ratio slightly and it seems to have solved my issue.0
