Hiding an account when deactivated | Suggestion

I think when deactivating your account, the system should make it look like your account is deleted, making you unable to send friend requests to the account etc. I'm pretty sure you've had this suggestion before, but I still think it could be a good idea.

Why are people down-voting this suggestion? I think it's a good idea too and I can also see how it could be useful in a variety of situations. I'm pretty sure Facebook has a similar feature akin to the one suggested here but you don't see anybody causing an uproar about it, so again, what gives with the down-votes?
