Please stop ignoring your community
I'm aligned with the vast majority when I say I think this latest update makes discord inferior to its pre-update self. The message highlighting, the emote bar, the lack of grey dividers, the new spacing, and a number of other reductions. But the most egregious part of this "Update-gate" is the staff's radio silence.
I refuse to believe that no one on the team has seen the backlash. I'm fully aware the person running the twitter likely has no authority to report or make any definitive call, but simply redirecting everyone here is unhelpful due to the massive influx of hourly messages all asking for the same thing. This request will probably be lost too.
All you need to do is a subreddit/blog/twitter post saying "We hear you, we're working on a fix" or "We hear you, but nothing's going to change". The former would likely regain at least some of the trust you've lost from this update. The latter... Well, I know plenty of folks who are more than ready to jump ship to one of your competitors, but at least you'd be communicating.
This isn't a mistake you can sweep under the rug. Nor is it something you can expect to die down. Your arrogance has critically impaired the core conceit of Discord, and made this wonderful application unusable to countless users with disabilities.
I love Discord. I have for a long time. I've met some of my best friends through this platform, and I'm forever grateful for the bonds I've been allowed to forge thanks to the devs and everyone on the team's efforts. That's why this hurts so much. That's why ALL of this hurts so much. I know the team is better than this.
You say you're always listening to our feedback, yet right now when it counts the most our words fall on deaf ears.
Prove that that promise isn't empty.
