Ctrl+A does not select all of messages starting with "> "

I have always used the keyboard sequence "Ctrl+A, Backspace" to erase my current message and start again, on discord and all sorts of other apps with text input windows.

Since discord implemented "smart formatting" (or whatever its called) in the input window, this workflow has been broken.

Steps to reproduce:

(tested on Linux desktop app, applies to all desktop/webapp versions afaik)

1.  Type "> hello" (without the quotes, with a space after the ">" so that it turns into a vertical bar)
   
   
2.  Press Ctrl+A.
   
   
3.  Press backspace.
   
   

Expected results:

The entire text input box is now empty.

Actual results:

A single "> " still remains (rendered as a dark grey vertical bar). This cannot be selected by any keyboard or mouse actions, and the only way to remove it is apparently via the backspace key. This is bad UX.

Perhaps this could be fixed by putting an invisible zero-width space at the start of the input box, and yeeting it on clipboard events.
