Pressing "Create Thread" on a "Reply" should automatically pull in all messages in the reply tree into the newly created thread.
Replies and threads fill very similar niches -- sometimes a user isn't sure whether they should simply reply to a message or create a thread. If you realize after a few replies, "Oh, this should have been a thread," you should be able to create a thread on the most recent message in the reply tree that automatically pulls all messages that were a part of that "conversation" into the thread.

This makes so much sense, it makes the use of threads much easier to get used to.

Yes Yes Yes! it would make both features easier to use, and make side conversations easier to manage.

True. It is nice that it detects a reply chain but I don't like it that only the last reply is added to the thread and not all replies in that chain.

I agree. If you suggest making a thread when the reply chain builds up, it should only be fair to pull the entire reply chain in and not the last part.

Yeah this needs to be added. it makes sense and its also already aware and tracking the messages that it should bring over.

This is one of those quality of life features whose absence ruins threads as a feature for more casual, conversational communities. As an admin in several servers it's always frustrated me this feature still doesn't exist, as the current limitations don't account for how conversations actually develop.
