Discord mute role not working in threads

Im a moderator in a server, and someone was spamming a video and wouldnt stop spamming after i told him to stop, i didnt want to warn him right away so i muted him for 5 minutes, but he went into a thread and started pinging me with the video, even though he was muted, and the muted role works on the channels, but not threads. This could be a serious problem because when you mute someone, they can just harass you in threads and bypass the mute role. Threads should have the same permissions as the channel they are on.

    Same here. I removed the "send messages" permission which shouldn't allow people with the role to talk anywhere, including threads. But now one person with the role (and the only one with the role) is talking in threads fine.

     The way i got arround it to get to this point seems as there isnt thread permissions is change it for the entire catagory. its pretty easy but can be annoying if you have a lot of catagories like i did but just go to the roles permissions in there and change "send messages in threads" to no and you are good. I attached some screnshots to help.
