Select multiple chat messages to create a thread from
When a moderator sees a discussion developing in a channel that would warrant its own thread and in order to avoid further people to continue that discussion in the cvhannel, outside the thread, one should be able to create a thread and add/select existing messages (tick boxes akin to selecting multiple emails (eg: gmail)) that will be moved into the thread and be part of the initial thread initialisation.
This should keep core channels clear of derailed or offtopic conversations (or polarizing topics). threads are great, but mosty of the time there's no foresight to say "hey, here's something i wish to say, maybe people will jump on it, i'm going to make a thread."
And from a mod point of view this now becomes a really useful tool

Also being able to move messages to a thread from the parrent channel would go well with this.

I agree that this would be very useful. Maybe there could be a permission that allows users to move their own messages to a thread, and another permission that allows them to move other people's messages, or maybe this could be tied to the "manage messages" permission.

I'm also waiting for this feature. We had discussed something and now I understand that this is a long topic and would like to move existing messages into a thread

Just tried to do this today and was sad to see it wasn't a feature!

I approve, this is something that could be quite beneficial. Discord already implemented a feature to move all messages to a thread, if you got a chain of responses, but sometimes the user just responses without the response-feature and then you realize that a thread would be good.

I would love to see something like "Add the last ## messages to thread". Then every message added to the thread is linked to the thread itself. Perhaps an option for moderators or people that wrote a particular message to have it removed from the thread if it's not relevant

Just moving messages would grandfather and solve this issue.
Or another aspect to this is if you create a thread it should automatically move any existing replies into the sub thread.But again, just basic moving messages into a sub-thread (or other thread) is just a face palm.

almost two years, and no sign of this feature as of yet. That's too bad! This would save tons of work in moderating server IMHO. Any update on this that you're aware of?
