Not getting notifications when app is closed or using other apps

I'm having problems with getting notifications when I'm using other apps. The notifications aren't coming through at all. I've checked notification setting and they're set to get all notifications as well as push notifications. I keep Discord closed when not actively on it. It only happens when I'm on other apps, but I'll get all notifications any other time. Any ideas on what's causing this? It's causing some distress as I am missing important messages.

    I was having the exact same issue and got tired of it myself. Just discovered what was going on for me just today, actually, and it's the Battery Saver that's the issue.

    Putting it into Extended Mode, it tells me, "Background activity & data: Restricted. This may result in some notifications and updates not showing."

    No wonder my discord and other apps (like Gmail, ffs) never gave me notifications anymore. I hate that that's a thing. I want to save battery, not never get my messages unless I actually open the effing app. In short, 0/0 stars - will not use Battery Saver 24/7 again.

    Edit: Then I found this: Settings > Battery > Power Saving Exclusions

    I dont use battery saver yet and i still dont recieve them.
