Accidentally created account in web browser, can't re-add phone to real account, Discord ignores me & is still charging me while locking me out of service
Summary: I accidentally/unknowingly created a new account via the web browser when I thought I was just logging into my normal account to join a server (there was no indication I was making a new account, I thought I was just receiving my 2FA code to log in on the web browser). Now the new (unwanted) account has my phone number attached to it, and it cannot be removed. When I log in to the new (unwanted) account to remove the number and delete the account, I get a message that says the the phone number "has been used recently to verify an account" - this is NOT TRUE.
I have gone back and forth with Discord support in 20+ emails over this situation, and on July 19th (after 7 days of trying every suggestion they had), support told me to "just wait until the lockout ends." I waited a full three weeks from my first contact to Discord to try again (August 12th). There is no way a lockout lasts three weeks.
The first rep I spoke to even admitted it's a common problem for people to mistakenly create an account on the browser. The second rep just repeated "just wait until the lockout is over" and not once responded to my questions about my card being charged or why I was allowed to create a new account with a phone number I had on my real account. How is that even possible? Is Discord just trying to farm as many user accounts as possible?
Since July 12th, I have been locked out of certain Discords that require a phone number and I am STILL BEING CHARGED for Nitro.
Discord reps have stopped responding to me as of four days ago. But they are still taking my money.
I even tried to contact the chief counsel directly regarding this issue - ignored.
I am so defeated by this, I don't know what else to do. I'm being scammed and ignored by a company I am paying when I did nothing wrong.
Please, anyone, help.
