@Mention users by game
This is a repost from a year ago. I'm hoping that it will get more traction this time.
I would love to have the ability to @mention everyone in a server who has played a specific game before.
A server I am on has many users that play a variety of games, and the owner/admin of the server has disabled mentioning @everyone on the server. It would be really neat if I could type something like this into the chat:
Hey, does anyone wanna play @Overwatch ?
Discord keeps track of games it has seen its users play before and lists them in the "Activity Status" section of the App Settings, so it already knows which games users have played. All that would be needed would be to check this list to determine whether or not a given user should be mentioned by the text chat message.
As for the mention itself, rather than having to keep a list of all games in a database somewhere, Discord could just allow users to @mention games which are listed in their "Activity Status" section.
Edit: I figured this went without saying, but the users should have the ability to mute game mentions as they do with every other type of mention (@everyone, @here, etc.). It would be even better if individual mentions could be turned on/off for games in the "Activity Status" section in the same way that the discord overlay can be toggled there.
Discord Staff: if you hire me on with a temporary contract, I WILL WRITE THE CODE FOR THIS FOR YOU.

This will work wonders at preventing @everyone pings from constantly plaguing my notifications on game night >->

This would be a great addition. I have had times that the whole server got pinged and was immediately pissed off.

It's a decent suggestion, but I'm going to have to disagree. Servers can just use the already publicly-available bots with the "Reaction Role" ability (Mee6, Dyno, Reaction Roles, etc) to add game roles, to which server owners can mention people. What if someone doesn't want to be mentioned even if they're played Overwatch? It's basically another useless and frustrating @everyone mention at that point. Imagine the amount of people in, say, a Valorant server if the permissions to ping Valorant players was given to anyone below Moderator. All spam pingers and raiders would have to do is ping a bunch of popular games, for example:
@Apex Legends @Overwatch @ROBLOX @NBA 2K21 @Minecraft @Splitgate @DOTA 2...
See what I mean? I don't think of this as a good idea purely upon that reason. Letting users opt-out of being pinged for that would help me reconsider my decision though.

__a7x Well all other @mentions can be muted, so I don't see why game mentions couldn't be muted as well.
