Slowmode ONLY for sending messages NOT creating threads.
Being able to set slowmode only for messages sent in a channel and not for the creation of threads in that channel would be very nice to have.
Currently, if a channel has slowmode, users without admin/manage channel/manage messages permissions will have to wait on the interval before creating threads as well as sending messages.
It would be nice to have "discussion" type channels where people can post "topics" while being restricted by slowmode but are able to freely create as many threads as they want with no enforced time interval.
Edit: I realize I was a little unclear about this, but I don't want to replace the current system (i.e. thread creation affected by slowmode) I simply want some feature that allows moderators to disable that, or maybe have an extra slider for setting the slowmode specifically for the creation of a thread.

This would (most likely) be used to bypass slowmode
For example, a channel that has a 1/2 hour slowmode will have people spamming threads to send multiple more messages to bypass slowmode0 -
a literal hat Well yes, that's what the point is. I want to give people a way to be able to "bypass" slowmode but only by creating a thread. I would like the ability to create a "main" channel (where members can post topics) that has a slowmode limit, but allows people to create as many threads as they need to basically force/encourage people to take discussions to a thread.
I don't particularly care about the spamming so much as I care about the conversation existing within a thread. Besides, a feature like this would presumably be something that the moderators of a server would have the permissions to enable so if they don't want it, then they don't have to use it.
