Bug causes system ui crash in android 12 on pixel 5

Whenever I open the discord app and start touching or moving around, my entire Pixel 5 will freeze for a second until it jumps to the home screen and says that Discord stopped working and system ui not responding. Of course to discord I press close but when I go back it starts working again. Once again, this is on my Pixel 5 running Android 12 version SPB4.210715.014

    same problem on Pixel 4a 5g.
    it's kinda hard to reproduce but it usually happens if i switch from a privat chat into a server. It works temporarily after switching from private chat into another private chat and then into a server. I upgraded from 11 to 12 today and today was the first time i expierenced it.

    Edit: Also happens when switching from Server into private but it seems to me that theese buttons are triggering the crash / bug.

    Pixel 4 XL here and got the problem as soon as I press the 3 bars to look at server and friend to message. I cannot talk to other people exept they message me first and open discord from the notification.

    This is actually driving me crazy. At first, I thought it was just a beta problem so I waited for stable to release. I get the stable build and it keeps happening. Okay guess I will factory reset. Nope, well maybe it's because I restored from a backup. Reset again and this time I don't restore from a backup, clean install first thing I do is install Discord, still happening. What is causing this and why does it have the magical ability to persist through multiple factory resets. I am legit about to buy another phone at this point it's driving me insane.

    Seems like gif's are causing the problems (at least for me). Everytime a gif is loaded an i change servers directly it freezes.
    Workaround is to change into a channel / DM with no gif's and then continue. Super weird.

    Edit: (again) Disabling "Automatically play GIFs when possible" under Accessibility seems to work as well. Hope this will be only temporary and discord's gonna fix it.

    Pixel 5. Had no issues with discord until I recently installed android 12. Other high CPU demanding apps also crash. I'm leaning on this being an Android 12 issue rather than discord at this point.
