Should I trust this random guy on my friend request pending?

I was just chilling talking to people on a server, and I got a new friend request. I thought it was a server member and I came to check in every server I am in, no results. Should I accept this person's friend request and ask who they are or ignore it? Well, I have shared my discord tag on a game platform, but I never expected anyone to see it.
