Alt text continuity

So alongside the requests for better alt-texting (making it editable, etc), it'd be greatly appreciated if the alt text could persist when the image is linked to, or be addable when copying links to images. Its effort enough to alt-text it - that effort is immediately gone if I put the image somewhere else, and redoing it several times is a Pain In The Ass. I guess I can copy-paste, if I'm lucky. It'd also be nice if existing image descriptions could port; ie. if I put an image description on a photo on my phone, then if I upload the photo, it stays.
