I was coming here to make a post on this myself, so thanks for opening a more recent thread.  Maybe the discord team will see this one and care a tad more...  We can hope.

I have done quite a bit of reading and searching on this issue and there are a few work-arounds. Typically, you either redirect audio to your microphone or you set up another audio sink, inject script into the web-app to use that sink in the stream, and settle with a mono-channel stream audio with no hardware acceleration.  Both methods have clear drawbacks, and are not ideal.

Between the various discord client projects and possibly updating Electron, there may be some way to patch in support that doesn't require external source/sink management. Or at least get hardware acceleration with something similar to the web-app injection method.  Discord's terms are a tad ambiguous in regards to modified clients, so I have been avoiding tests playing with the client.

Even if the only option for discord is to provide a list of all the audio sources to pick from when starting a stream, I'd rather have in-app support, with hardware acceleration, over having to use a browser with a second account or some other streaming setup.

We've been asking for audio in streams for close to 4 years or so. It's a tad overdue at this point.
