Verified Bot Developers Badge

Hello, I have some suggestions on something regarding the bot developer badge. As you can see it's not really fair for the people that actually have intentions of making a bot for the community, etc. My suggestion would be that you can verify a bot without the badge, but if the bot is following all the rules and reaches specific requirements set by discord while verified they can apply to receive the badge. 

This is affecting developers in many ways since the developers worked very hard on their bots and need a way to get hyped up and continue on with the bot. Sadly, I know a lot of people that have quit making discord bots since they don't have enough encouragement to go on, but the bot developer badge and getting your bot verified will give them enough encouragement to keep working on the bot and improving it frequently. 

 

I don't agree with the methodology as in the way to get your bot verified, however, I think adding a new and improved BOT VERIFICATION system would make things easier and just much easier for the discord dev team and the developer themselves. That would also mean we could have all the perks that we used to have a Verified bot tag and a verified bot developer badge.

    Personally, I have the honor of having this badge, since I did verify mine before they shut it down - but, I still have an opinion on this thread:

    Yes, the badge looks cool - but the main reason you should be making a bot is to show your creations -- not getting a badge that has absolutely no benefit and is purely cosmetic. The only thing Discord merely should and will probably stick to is keeping the check mark on the bot.

    It was said before they shut it down, that if the only reason you're making a bot is for the badge, don't make a bot because it shouldn't "hype you up". To be honest, after I got the badge I felt good for the first 5 days, then I was over the "hype", and continuously worked on my bot as if there was no change.

    - I'm open to your opinions and value them, but I respectfully disagree with this.

    I'm not sure for adding the developer badge again. The badge was removed due to poeple who made bots just to have the badge, however, as you said, some developers made really good bots, and giving them the developer badge would really "hype them up", but that's not because some poeple made good bots that they've worked really hard on them.

    For example, you can make a bot that can do everything that exists, and be a very famous bot, but you may have made it with some GitHub repos, and if it's the case, you'll get the developer badge, but you don't deserve it.

    You also said that Discord should add a new verification system, which means, as I understood it, Discord staff must try the bot to get a global view on the bot, but that would really increase verification time easily by 3, and it is already long today, that's why I do not agree into adding again the developer badge.
