account detected "Something's going on here"
welp this is going to be a new issue discord is going to have now just by looking at all these post about "Something's going on here" late last year and this year.
So... while i was chatting with some of my bird friends on discord, i found a nice picture for my pfp then decide to download it then use it as my pfp then all of the sudden... this happened...
obviously something went wrong...
i got this message saying "something's going on here" on my discord tab
this happened to me one time back in January and gave me 2 choices, verify by phone number or email. i choice email and was able to get back in and now this time
i got this message and only allows me to verify with my phone number?
what?
it happened to me multiple of times with my alt and my main account.. the account im using right now is my alt. my main is locked for some reason saying it was detected including my google account wanting me to verify by email (whICh i CanT thanKS To gooGle nOT lETTinG me LoG in, Now iM TraP)
i got so many questions.
1. why did this randomly pop-up? RigHT afTer i ChanGe mY pFp to RafAel The toUCan
2. why is discord now only allowing me to verify my phone number?
3. can i do something else besides verifying by number?
(i dont want to verify due to personal reason)
4. why does this lately happen?
5. is this some type of bug?
6. who even decided to detect and not allow "verify email" grrrr *squawk*
7. could this be since im using discord browser?
i dont know why this is happening.
i use discord browser on incognito on google (personal reason). i have 2 accounts and use both on browser; same tab and all i do is chat. now there both locked. why.. *squawks weakly*

This happened to me too just a few hours ago! I've been worried sick trying to get my account up and working again and got 3 tickets for discord support. I entered my phone number and it worked again but as soon as I took it off I was locked out again. It won't let me use my phone number again and I've been trying to trouble shoot for hours now. Since this is happening to multiple people I think it might be a bug? If anyone gets any info pls reply!

Same here, i didint even change my accounts image/name except in the PAST, and i just suddenly got told "give us your phone number!" by discord. this is beyond stupid as well as ridiculous.

Same thing happened to me few hours ago and I really hope they look into this problem I just changed my pfp to "sakuta azusagawa" but like right after it gave me the phone verification and someone broke my phone not so long ago so I'm really worried right now. Please tell us all when you find a answer to this problem. Thanks!!!

so... i forgot i did a test back in February with a new account.
i went on discord browser on incognito.
created a account using random email and username and as soon i was done registering. this showed up.
this is something i dont understand about discord. why did my new account get the permission to use both email or number.
im guessing after you verified your email, itll be the only time you do so.
(glad i still remember my email/password, i could do more tests)

Yeah I tried making an alt account/ new account but I had the same issue pop up again. This bug is getting quite annoying.

(whoa you replied that fast) im planning to make multiple accounts for test to see whats with this issue and see whats would be helpful and for better.
i think it something that has to do with your IP/VPN but not sure.

I made the account on an incognito tab, I joined a server and tried to dm someone but instantly got locked out again. I already used my phone number and am currently in contact with support to fix the issue. I think this might be a bug for certain areas in the world, not sure if other people in my area are having this issue though.

while mines got locked out after registering... its weird.
maybe you get those messages because your using incognito in which it doesnt track what location your at im assuming..
but might be wrong, im planning on taking these test so... yeah.
(also how did you contact discord? discord kept on telling to find a message and copy the link and put very specific reasonings to it (whIle i Cant) it threw me off.)0 -
I contacted discord via the 'submit a request' button (should be on the top right of your screen). You send a request and it will send you an automated email, if the automated reply does not answer the question you will be given a ticket and discord support staff will be in contact with you when they can. You might be right about incognito tab though, for now I am relying on the staff support.

I should add: To get a response from the team you must reply to the automated email in order to be contacted.

The ticket isn't a warning, it's like a queue ticket so you wait for your turn with said ticket. It's like a pass/ID the staff will use to contact you via email. You are given the ticket once you reply back to the automated email and then must wait for a response.

hi okay soo this thing is i guess because you need to verify both or you did something sus so their system flagged your account i got this after i contacted discord Im on incognito tab and i only have 1 option T^T thats phone number

Same thing happened to me, was clicking around in my _verified by phone_ profile, got kicked out, impossible to verify by phone again, or by any other means. 5 days and 10 emails with support later im still locked out, they can't tell me anything useful and don't want to unblock it manually. It's a shame, really

Were you forced to keep the phone number on your account at all times and if you removed it, was that when you got locked out? if so that is shady crap.

Especially if you dont use 2 factor authentication and they force you to keep the number tied to your account anyways.

no it wasnt that, i never had 2fa or phone number.
i only had email verified and that was it.
i dont want to use my phone number though. if i add it then i get my account back but if removing it, i could get locked out again and i dont want that to happen

I'm having the same problem but my friend spammed me and i got locked out i don't have a email linked to my account and my phone number docent work and I've been crying my eyes out for the past hour ;(

Same problem with me. I have 2 accounts 1 for my gaming channel and 1 for my dc meme channel..... I kept the same phone Number for both and removed it within 2 minutes. like 5 mins after removing my phone number on my alt acc, I opened dc and all messages failed to load except the dm I had opened most recently before cloasing dc. Then all HypeSquad badges, nitro, boosting everyting were showing an error. then at once dc crashed! I thought it was a bug and opened it again, this freaking thing showed up "Something is Going on here". I tried after 20 hrs with a different phone number, it worked for like a minute. After I DM my bro and removed the phone number coz it was my mom's, it showed up again "Somthing is going on here" It's been like 17-18 hrs since this happened. Does the same phone number on 2 different acc effect it? Now my account is locked for 18 hours!wat to do pls i need help.... I can't live without dc :(

Guys I've sent an email to discord, they said if their system triggered a phone verification for your account, discord cant lift it up for anyone because the trigger wont go away without a phone verification, I've sent another email about telling them how i couldn't verify my phone number since my phone is broken, if they reply ill give everyone more information.

I also had this issue, had my now dead girlfriend to give me her number and verify that stupid account since discords algorithm can't really learn how to differenciate between someone whos upset and EVERYONE OF THE ADMINS HAD THEIR DMS CLOSED, thanks CMG and someone who really is a bot.
Its all the same answer, our system triggered successfully, YEAH THEN WHY YOU CANT JUST REMOVE THAT???? THE PHONE NUMBER LOCK IS BECAUSE OF HUMAN VERIFICATION, I JUST SENT AN EMAIL TO YOU= HUMAN???
If they ever want to get that phone number again for whatever stupid dumb reason, well my girlfriend is dead(Too much smoking,alcohol and lastly train surfing) and then I want to see their reaction if they want to keep a number of a dead person in their system.
I mean cmon Discord, get your system to work properly, on Instagram I can send like endlessly DMs, same on YT with comments and such.
ALWAYS when I do something I'm so worried to get another phone lock or some other BS feature that Discord puts in your way like some kind of parkour. Meanwhile there are so many resellers and such of cheats and nothing is being done about it BUT when I DM SOMEONE ITS WORSE THAN SOMEONE WHO DROPPED A 800 MEGATON NUKE, explain me this logic?
Its making me so furious that Im almost breaking my keyboard here. Already tossed that AMOLED panel through the room just because of the nonsensical "solutions" their algorithm has to offer. Instead of giving me a way to verify with like a captcha or video/by picture holding my real name and Discord Tag they are focused on that phone number like a eagle on mice -_-

Yeah exactly Discord, here you ask me for an additional capture. (Irony mode ON) I mean ofcourse there are so many bots that can type in the phone number of their boss with the additional + and then they automatically insert the code but not by instantly pasting it but rather typing it(irony mode OFF)

For anyone still trying to get back into their account try this method:
All you have to do is get another account to generate a verification code for your main account.
Since both accounts are trying to verify their accounts with the same number Discord will accept the account that enters the correct generated code first.
