iOS chat text box terrible lag
The chat text box for the iOS app seem to take up a lot of system resources when it changes between "states" ( shape shifts? dunno how to describe it )
For older devices like the iPhone 5s on iOS 12, this becomes very noticible and annoying as the whole thing slows down to a crawl.
If you type too fast, then the box can get stuck for up to half a minute showing only the first line:
( You can't even see what you're typing past the second line because the box doesn't scroll while stuck )
The send button is also unresponsive during this time:
The phone also heats up a lot more when sending messages, compared with scrolling around and only reading.
while this is less apparent for newer devices, for something as basic as a box you type letters into, and for an app that has heavy focus on performance, this seems like somewhere the developers worth looking into to improve the app. Cheers!

The same issues occur daily for me on the iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 15.3.1. And have been doing so for the past few months.
Especially apparent when writing longer messages or trying to use emojis mid-message.
Often the text box will get stuck and I can no longer scroll through what's been written or exit the DM or server channel I'm writing in.These 'lags' persist for up to 3-5 minutes and if I try to close down the app and re-open it, I lose most of what I've written, if not all.

This is likely due to the UI system. This issue usually clears up after a few seconds.
