Server Boosts as a Monetary Subscription Model
Core Proposition:
- Server Owner/Designated Individual/Account receives n% (let's say 10% arbitrarily) of server boost revenue
Benefits:
- Quality of servers would increase as incentive drives a more professional and targeted server environment (positive reinforcement loop for platform content)
- Integration of future server boosting perks could directly tie into the feature (positive scalability)
- Servers would gain an intrinsic monetary value as a community similar to other platforms such as Twitch/YouTube
- Nitro would create an ability to "Prime" subscribe; that is, the boosts associated with Nitro would gain an expanded sense of value as the impact of boosting would have a direct result on the server it is used on
- Integration of multi-platform reward systems like what has been done with Twitch subscribing and emote unlocking could be expanded upon and further integrated (also gives Discord the ability to reach out and create value propositions for connecting their reward system(s) with other platforms)
- Streaming and the new Podcast feature would be able to be capitalized on in a monetizable manner in-platform rather than relying on 3rd party solutions
- This could be further developed and integrated with the Partner Program (n% modifier, more features, different support layers, restricted structures of integration, control of monetizing accepted communities (in the case of ToS, etc))
- This would directly give community managers, server creators, bot authors, creatives, and so on a way to be able to integrate their ecosystem with Discord in a deeper manner
- They could choose to use a percentage of the proceeds to loop back into the community by holding giveaways, contests, and so on with the earnings they receive which can build a feedback loop of engagement and user retention for the Discord platform
Any constructive feedback would be wonderfully appreciated! :)

Wait so discord can basically be a streaming service (like twitch) with this idea, how would this affect the free nitros that people can get tho? I've seen alot of people getting free nitros and maybe that can break discord's economy if they find out a way of getting free nitros and giving their own server a shit ton of boosts to gain money.

All Nitro codes require payment for the generated code to be registered as valid. If Nitro is ever somehow exploited to be truly free that is the problem of a separate system altogether and is outside of the scope of this proposal. If the current Nitro system has this problem then the economic negatives are more strongly suffered by Discord without this proposal as all of the current revenue from it is received by Discord.
