New Discord UI - My thoughts
Hi, my name is Star. I use Discord regularly and fear the new change is harmful to the brand. I've been with Discord since 2017 and watched many of the changes it's gone through in terms of visual overhauls. Although I didn't agree with some, I'd have to say most of the steps they took were positive for accessibility and that they grew on me over time. This is different.
I believe that the new logo branding for Discord does not live up to the "friendlier" look they were going for, and in fact just looks like they're taking a company-sided take instead of the user dependent community it's always been.
I also feel the font is a bit more generic and defaulted than the one they had before. The font does work better with their theming, but I'd still prefer the older one as well.
Their color is much more harsh to the eyes than before and seems to bold to be "friendly". It's a very potent type of blurple and is difficult to look at for more than a few seconds. I think this should be reverted along with the logo.
As far as server management, this will take some time to get used to. But I do feel like this is a much more efficient change in comparison to the rebrand. Everything is simpler to understand and works better when trying to get that perfect look you need.
These are only my thoughts as an avid user, and my word is only as good as the rest. But I do hope that Discord listens to it's userbase because it seems a lot of people have the same vision as me here. I hope this can at least be considered.

I 100% agree with everything you said. I do hope they read this.

The new design is absolutely not up to expectations. I find this update destructive! Not only was the atmosphere and friendliness of the brand lost as a result of the redesign, it also turned out to be raw for the Cyrillic alphabet. As a designer, I consider it unacceptable to use several different fonts in one button.

Well said.
