Well thought-out brand update (and a minor bug)
Hi!
I originally came here to report a bug on the website, which I'll include further down. Then I started reading posts about the new brand look, and most of them were written as unconstructive feedback, even the ones reporting bugs and inconsistencies.
So first, I'd like to say that I LIKE the new brand. The design decisions clearly reflect a LOT of thought and a dedication to the community that most companies disregard. As a designer myself I know the kind of effort that goes into a rebrand, and you have pulled off a huge update without breaking the brand recognition.
I especially like the idea of Clyde being free, both visually and emotionally. There will be so many cool opportunities for Clyde! I look forward to seeing the emotional range of Clyde in the future. I also really like the new colors and the new wordmark font, in fact the new font throughout. It is all on-point for representing a bold but friendly look in the digital tech space, and also is unique and will clearly stand for Discord. It will always be a challenge for people to accept change, especially aggressive and rapid change, and the best we can do is try to create a positive atmosphere and make hard decisions regarding change that will benefit everyone in the long run. Thank you for releasing your thought process, community inclusion, brand guidelines, and everything else you have been transparent with regarding these decisions.
On to the (minor) bug - on the website page discord.com/brand-new/branding, the old logo and new logo are both rendering on top of each other. I inspected the code and couldn't find an obvious overlap, so I suspect the svg code has become combined. I am using Google Chrome on Windows 10, Version 90.0.4430.212 (Official Build) (64-bit), and this bug happens at all breakpoints.

The logo in itself, is not bad. In all fairness. Just a "each to their own" kind of taste. As most people prefer the good old things, and doesn't like change.
But regardless, this is far from being a well though out big brand update. The colour and font not passing quality tests and accessibility for everyone is proof enough of that.
This is embarrassing for them as a whole and shouldn't have been put out yet.
