Mass-Ban Raid Countermeasure: List Members By Join Datetime To Select And Ban
Recently the server I'm an administrator for has undergone a good handful of raids within the past week, each of bots numbering greater than 50. Each time this has happened we've had to have our available mods undertake 1800's clerical work manually going through the welcome page, right clicking on each raider, clicking ban, and entering a ban message over and over again. This often took 10-15 minutes per raid and is waste of our mods precious time and, not to mention, these bot raids all sent scams to our many members dm's. Every minute counts to prevent more scam messages from being sent.
It would therefore be a substantial increase in qualilty of life for server moderation to have the ability to ban all raiders with the press of a single button.
The proposition in this post is to introduce the ability to ban through a members list ordered by join datetime. In all our raids, all raiding bot accounts joined in the same period of time. So it would be useful to be able to have an ordered-by-join-datetime list of members with checkboxes that allowed one to either indivdidually check the boxes of raider accounts or click-then-shift-click all the checkboxes of raider accounts and then press a ban button. As we follow proper documentative practices, such a ban button would still require the usual UI asking for a ban message with which the mass banner would be able to enter a message that will be used on all these accounts selected for mass banning.
Such an ability could also be added at a role permission so that servers can elect whether to give this mass ban power to moderators and administrators or only administrators.
Note, as a use case for Discord itself, for bot detection, developers could also add an additional piece of functionality to this type of ban that would allow them to see what groups of accounts are getting banned together often and thus by extension which accounts are probably bots.
