Tablet UI on android tablets is sub-optimal
On an android tablet, the UI does not show the list of channels or the list of servers, and instead stretches the chat UI across the whole screen.
While this is OK for phones and possibly smaller tablets, it is unsuitable for larger tablets and for platforms such as samsung dex and chromeos which run android apps in a desktop environment.
3 preferred designs:
- Ipad style UI on larger tablets, keep existing UI for phones
- Left hand tab bar on tabets - hide able server and channel switcher
- Split view similar to current UI with server and channel switcher open, place input box above bottom bar

Wholeheartedly agreed. Discord is a pain to use on an Android tablet.
Other issues include long pressing messages is bugs out the UI, and the media uploader is hardcoded to three images per row, making very poor use of the screen real estate.2 -
Yeah, you don't know how many times I have swiped and gone home instead of swiping up the reply/reaction pane after long pressing.

I hope they fix it, it's so annoying.
The older version of discord actually had a better ui!

This! They could probably have an alternate listing for tablets on the play store - Samsung DeX support would also be nice, and since most DeX users are using external keyboards and mice they could just have the desktop app as the DeX mode.

I generally suggest transferring the UI from the Web/PC version of Discord. On the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, I have to use the Web version of Discord for the normal list of Emoji to be displayed, because 15% of UI are not visible, including Emoji. Although I don’t mind at all if the PC version of Discord is completely transferred to tablets.
