Discord Recent Changes Ruined My Mobile Experience

Discord seems to be trying their hardest to make this app as un-enjoyable and issue filled as they can but due to my friends using this platform I must stay.

There are two main issues affecting my experienc with the app as well as numerou minor issues.

 

1)   When I open another app discord will no longer recieve messages until i close the app and restart. Meaning if i am chatting and need to switch to Google or even just get a phone call, discord will refuse to refresh the messages until I close the app. My messages can send but this issue is very annoying and results in me sending messages when I have already been replied to or the conversation has moved on.

 

2) the recent update has changed in app notifications so now anytime someone sends a sticker, image, gif, or bot command the notification fills the entire screen and will continue to do so until all the pictures have processed. This makes the in app notification system completely worthless and requires me to disable the feature all together. The biggest risk here is that the notifications do not care if the image is NSFW or not meaning every picture sent in any server fills my screen entirely. 

 

I am on Android but i know these issues affect my iPhone friends as well. If these issues are not resolved soon we will have to look for a better alternative to discord all together.
