Change "app" back to "bot"
Noticed today that the “bot” icon next to bits has been changed to “app”. This change seems to only cause confusion, since its more unclear what the functions and limitations are than keeping with the description for what kind of a program they are. There's also been some confusion between whether something is referring to the discord app or an “app” on a discord server.

I literally hate this update so much

In the Developer Portal for our apps, they should just give us a choice of which tag is appropriate. “App” doesn't make sense for my Bot, so I should be able to change it back as an option.

I completely understand your concern. Changing "bot" to "app" can definitely lead to confusion, especially within a platform like Discord where users are familiar with specific terminology. "Bot" clearly communicates what the program is and what it does, whereas "app" is a more generic term that might blur the lines between different functionalities, particularly with the Discord app itself. For an app development agency, terminology is crucial in ensuring that users understand the purpose and function of different tools. Sticking with "bot" helps maintain clarity, ensuring that users can easily differentiate between the core Discord app and the bots that enhance server functionality. It’s important that the terminology reflects the distinct roles these tools play to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

In the Developer Portal for our apps, it would be helpful if we could choose the most appropriate tag. The label "App" doesn't fit my Bot, so there should be an option to switch it to something more suitable
