Flaws in the server report system & scamming servers
In the recent weeks, I got to know some discord servers scamming users/reselling illegal products as one of my friends got his account scammed and reported these guilds immediately.
Although I did not show any activity on the server at all and reported it myself, my account got added a violation (that is unsure if it expires today or in 2 years as of the spelling). I know that the ToS warn about being member of such servers, but let me bring up two situations:
- I am member of 100 discord servers and I do not monitor all of them actively. One of the servers owner gets his account scammed/starts breaking the ToS on his server and I do not even notice. My account will get another violation.
- I am member of a scamming server knowingly but know of the inconsisties in every online report system and want to stay on the server to send reports with better evidence later on. As of the report system, I have to be a member of the server to report it. My account gets added a violation.
While all these violations affect me as an innocent user, the owner of the scam servers abused the OAuth2 scope “guilds.join” and a verified discord bot named “RestoreCord” to completely rebuild his server including the members/bot accounts on a newly created account and lives a happy life.

I have a situation similar to yours. The thing that confused me is that when I tried to appeal, I got some half-baked email stating:
"Hello,
Discord has temporarily limited your account for violating our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. We’ve reviewed and confirmed this violation.
You should’ve received a system DM or email with more information. If you have any questions about your account or to see the remaining duration of the limitation, please refer to the account standing page under your account settings. Please keep in mind that future violations may result in further limitations, including the permanent deactivation of your account."I'm almost certain no one actually reviewed it. I'm not even really sure how “limited” I am yet.

My second request about this issue just got closed without any response. As they officially stated in a DDevs event, the support is not hold by discord and outsourced to employees without much knowledge. Some answers to my tickets even contained factually wrong statements/information, that were neglecting the official devs docs.
I do not know if this is the case for Trust and Safety too, but technically gives you no chance in harming the scammers or contacting a real discord support employee.
Unfortunately discord themself do not really care about their users, this post will probably be never viewed.
