Overlay Dead?

So I actually switched to using win10 over my Mac at least in part because I could get the chat overlay so I could see who was talking. Worked great for a few years. Yeah, the OS and Discord are all up to date. Problem is for the past 2-3 months, it has been failing. Yeah, every now and then I can bring it up, but in voice chats it's no longer there. At all. What is going on here?
