Customized Role-Specific Emojis
The idea hit me today when considering moderating a chat for inappropriate behavior: Have role-specific emojis which are identified by a colored border (which would correspond with that assigned role) and is additionally only usable by that specific role.
I.E.: The moderators in a server I participate in are given blue names. Accordingly, the role-specific emojis would—aside from being unique compared to the server's "public" emojis—be readily identifiable if applied to someone's message. Others could vote it up, but they wouldn't be able to use it themselves.
In practice, what could this be used for? In my specific example, if someone is pushing the rules but not quite breaking them, it would be both an easy and funny to "mark" someone's offending message with such an emoji; it would be a quick, easy way of letting them and those around them know that they're not as under the radar as they think, without needing to take time to just drop in a message to warn them unless they're really going over the line.
Beyond such a use as that? I honestly have no idea, but I'm sure others could think of additional applications of such a feature.

But that only works with emojis from other servers. I’m talking about making an emoji your own server and making it role exclusive. Plus, even with use external emojis, you need nitro for that anyway.

This is, surprisingly, already in the Discord API. They just haven't added an interface for it yet.

So perhaps they're thinking about it 👀

This actually already exists, it currently needs to be manually set through Discords API, since there is no interface for it, but yeah if you are requesting for a interface to do this itd be pretty helpfull 8 -
I have a little coding experience and would like to know how to change these settings through the API

Being able to partition off emojis would be very useful, especially for people that are prone to abusing emojis and irritating everybody else. Having this be an earned feature within a server, at the discretion of owner/admins, would allow for a more dynamic moderating of a server. 4 -
+1
Having role perks would be a nice reward for done extra-work in a community.

Could someone please give an example of how one would do this... I have no idea how the API works.

Custom Server Emoji's need to have the ability to group them for "everyone" or "role" use as well as visibility. Critical example: NSFW emoji should only be visible to people with that role.

Would still very much like this feature added. Right now adding a bot and setting it up just for role specific emoji's feels clunky and unnecessary.

You can already restrict emojis to a certain role using the API. See https://discordapp.com/developers/docs/resources/emoji. 2 -
It doesn't seem like the first response is really addressing the requested functionality. It would be nice to use a custom emoji within a nickname with respect to the specific server. Whether as a prefix field or directly in the nickname, custom emojis could be a more creative way to denote rank or role, award users with certain emojis, or formally recognize a server member. Since nicknames are specific to the server you're in, this would seem to be a reasonable request.

I would love this feature! My twitch followers in discord can use thier currency to buy custom emojis that I make and I would like to make them exclusive to those people, plus I can have subscriber tier exclusive emojis as well. This would be great for youtubers and twitch streamers that have discords. It would be a great tool for reward programs. Please implement this!

This is actually already a feature in the Discord API, but it is not a part of the app yet.
I originally posted this here, but it got taken down fro some reason.
If you want me to show you how, dm me at JCFilms#1340

Functionality already exists however it would be more useful if it could be configured without the API. Custom emotes in names doesn't seem possible but I could see that being useful.

Nice idea 1 -
I absolutely love this feature on Mixer and think that would be very popular/enjoyed by the people of my servers. This is an excellent idea and I hope discord takes a look at this and implements it!

I approve this idea

Just thought about this idea and immediately came to find it here to upvote it because it's FANTASTIC! And I'm glad it's in the Discord API - I'll look into if I can do it that way! :D

+1, would work for Twitch subs, Patreons and even gameserver donators!

I want this implemented so that I can tie my discord server into my game.
Basically, when joining the server, people could choose their character class (cavalier, musketeer, guardian, etc.) and they would have their own exclusive emoji they could use to represent it. The emoji would be the pixel art from the game that shows the class (I also wish we could put the emoji next to their name if they have the role, but some people might not like that, so I don't think that can be implemented.)1 -
we. need. this.
(to be an actual feature in discord, not just the api)
