    Also need an option to mute those notifications when you aren't deafened. Channels that have talking permissions revoked so you can listen to something like music, but then there are all the join, leave, leave, join, leave, join, join, join, leave, join, leave, leave sounds.

    It's pretty bad with Discord's official Snowsgiving 2019 "Christmas Jams" channel.

    I found "#streamdeck-and-streamdeck-mini - Discord" in my system's Volume Mixer, and muting that stopped the notification sounds from playing. The name of it is based on the channel I currently am looking at. In this case, I was looking at the Streamdeck giveaway channel in Discord's official Snowsgiving 2019 server. Considering it's already a separate sound item, it should be super easy for Discord to add a mute option, maybe even per channel/server.

    I'm pretty sure in 2019 this was already a thing, but you can found and deactivate notifications (e.g. for people joining/leaving channels) under: 'User Settings' > 'Notifications' > 'Sounds'. Unfortunately this affects all channels and not a specific one, for this you should do a request (that's probably never going to see sunlight but it's worth a try) or upvote one that match with yours here.

    What Discord should add is a way to change those sounds, making custom sounds would give us freedom to do whatever we want.

    Just keep posting in thread. I alerted discord about this issue and if you want this option, just keep clicking like to the posts in here.  They will do it eventually.

     

    What we want is a way to just disable discord join sounds for just specific channels, I don't want to disable my join sounds (notifications) for all channels because I like them in certain channels.

     

    This way you can set up a stream channel, and people can jump in, watch and listen, and not actually be able to talk and you don't hear them either.

    Bumping this because it feels necessary for my college class that's trying to use discord for stuff like breakout rooms since zoom's aren't very good

    I agree. If I'm deafened, I shouldn't hear anything from discord at all.

    I agree with all the above statements, and I hope it gets implemented rather soon. The whole point of AFK channels is sort of nought otherwise.

    Please can the join and leave sound/notification be optional! Its SO annoying. Seriously - has this not been addressed?

    AzuL we don't want to mute all notifications, only notifications in one channel. For example, an AFK channel shouldn't have any join or leave sounds, but that doesn't mean we don't want them somewhere else. And setting join and leave sounds to muted every time we join AFK channels and then to normal every time we leave is not feasible.

    +1!! people mention enabling streamer mode already does it for the user. make it an option / channel based / user based (muting bots specifically ) as well/instead please?

    I've just joined the Discord Townhall server and tried to listen to the music in the voice channel but the issue here descripted makes it impossible, please make this an option!!

    I'm in a bot announcement server and left my phone joined in that server 24/7. The join and leave sound bugs me. We need a feature to disable that sound without muting
