Feature addition for public servers
I am a part of several large discords that have voice channels for grouping with various players but if as an example it is for Apex usually the server admins will set the channels to a maximum of 3 people but there is no way to control who comes into the channel if you aren't a group of 3. As an example yesterday evening I was in a channel with a friend and two separate individuals decided to troll our channel; one was asking for an invite to the group and accepted and left several times then left abruptly as a match started, the second came into the channel speaking gibberish. Needless to say its entertaining for about a moment and then gets irritating.
My suggestion is a feature update that is similar to what IRC public channels had/have where the oldest member in the channel gets special moderation rights over that channel. A brief breakdown of this feature would include as such:
- The ability to kick or ban someone from entering the channel
- The ability to make the channel invite only
- Forced afk settings for the voice channels for inactive people to be played into an afk channel to prevent abuse of moderation
- After the moderator leaves the channel the settings revert to their previous settings; wiping ban lists and making the group public again.
I feel that this feature would be best implemented by discord. I thought that creating a bot could accomplish this but I feel that this should be a part of the base platform offering. Please let me know if you have any followup questions.
