Problem: the discord overlay is cutting my in game audio out

Whenever I access the overlay, I can't hear in game audio, even after closing the overlay to go back to playing the game. The only way I can fix it is by exiting out of the game. I've checked the settings in both my game and in the discord settings and can't fix it. Please help
