Server boost
CompletatoIt would be nice for smaller people to buy more server boosts. The person pays X amount for 1 server boost it could be like an extra subscription amount. It would be a one time thing. And you can do it boost multiple servers. (Some servers will not be able to even reach tier 1 there should be a little incentive for small tightknit servers this is why I am asking for this as a suggestion) If they loose nitro they loose their server boosts but if they bought server boosts and the get their nitro back they should be able to get them back for free. And you should be able to boost multiple servers. You can set a limit. Make it like 5 or 10.
Edit:
I am not saying exclusively pay for boosts I am saying be able to buy more boosts! Or do something to earn them as well! Like minigames!
Edit:
1. I am saying be able to make smaller servers be able to get the higher tier rewards! The only way is to buy more boosts or make minigames or something with the community!
2. Make a cap on boosts so people don't all go in 1 server and boost it when that doesn't need to be boosted any more.
3. Make it be able to boost more than 1 server. (People have many favorites and some people don't wanna think they hate someone just because they boost)
4. If you buy boosts and you loose your nitro you loose your boosts
5. If you get your nitro back and you get your boosts back!
(Right now discord server boots is divided up to make large communities and that is not what discord is about, discord is about bringing everyone together, and its not fair if you can't grow your discord or have friends that don't have money to get nitro but your community booming but its a small amount and this will bring everyone closer as a community)

Im gonna leave sum rice here

what if you're like me and lost your streak because your card stopped working? What if you've been on discord for 3 years and your card messed up? If you want a streak system, it would be better to just have a simple badge- oh wait the early supporter badge is already a thing lmao. Either way all nitro users support discord so that idea isn't the best and would discourage newbies.
1 -
they want people to get more interested in getting nitro, so having "oops sorry you have to have been a nitro supporter for (this many months here) to have a certain function, tough luck!", would make them feel discouraged and annoyed at the new function as a whole.
0 -
sure, good concept for those that would benefit from it, but what about those that wouldn't? You have to think about how others would feel that aren't in the same situation.

@Chizumi I was actually gonna make another suggestion to them for being able to reclaim a Nitro streak if it's within one month.
I'm going to do it right now.
Also, by this suggestion I meant that of course you get the boost ability at when you first subscribe, but for each additional month, you should be able to boost an extra server. That's basically what I meant.
1 -
yes and allow me to repeat again, the people that don't have as many months as you would feel discouraged. Feels like you're encouraging pay more to win. We're nitro users, no matter how many months we have we're still nitro users, all the same. The early supporter badge is the only thing that should separate us.

Agreed, and it echoes my suggestion which was maybe a little too modest considering that long time Nitro supporters deserve a few actual benefits at least, and it would only encourage more users who've always hesitated to finally give Nitro a shot. In fact, several of my friends finally expressed their resolution to activate Nitro once the crisp server boosting feature ultimately hits their favorite server. 👌

@Mugen I feel the same way as those friends of yours do.

Chizumi, I was saying if you wanna pay for extra boosts that wouldn't matter. It would be a 1 time payment and then you have the extra boosts forever unless you lose your nitro, but once you get the nitro back, you get your boosts back free of charge.

@FATFATTY2BY4 What happened is Discord dun did a stupid and merged yours and my posts even though they were completely different.

What was yours?

What about letting Server Owners buy or subscribe to the Booster level they want.
1 -
Yes, I don't WANT all the games. zero interest. What I'd much rather have is the ability to buy a subscription for my server directly, perhaps by donations etc to beef it up. My group's number is less then 10 so we can't even get to level 2.

I would like to point out that the $9.99 a month isn't JUST for server boosting. There are plenty of other perks. It's unfair to write this like you're paying $9.99 for just one boost.

As a smaller server person myself. I obviously want to see at least the T1 rewards being used on my own server...
But at the same time I would rather use that one boost I have on another larger server that has a better chance to use it in a meaningful way and to show my support on that server. It feels unfair to use my boost on my own server not knowing if anyone else in the server will care about the rewards or want to increase the level of our server. Most of my members are poor college students who don't really have time for games at this point in their lives, let alone subscriptions to gain access to even more games they may not be interested in/don't own.I bought my Nitro subscription when they released them to support the Discord platform. I don't really care about the add-on games. That's a nice perk but I don't think I've used it in any real capacity to date either.
Please consider this or a similar option for smaller server owners to show continued support to the discord platform and/or their own communities/server, as well as be able to gain something useful out of it... (An alternate idea may be to award a boost or portion of a boost to the purchaser of a nitro gift subscription, so they can then use it where they see fit.) This could encourage smaller server owners/those who are not financially burdened to possibly pick up another subscription(s) just to get benefits where they would like to see them used.Gifting a Nitro sub to someone in your server doesn't guarantee any form of benefit to your own server from what I'm seeing. Apologies if I sound greedy with this statement but there's really no motivation to buy someone a gifted nitro sub other than generosity to that user/the platform, or you don't have better plans for your money. With Twitch sub gifting you're unlocking that channel's emotes for that user (same as Nitro.) But you're also contributing to that community as a whole by encouraging someone to come back to that community and use it's emotes in a way that makes other people want to visit or recognize that community. The current cool-down in place is nice to prevent abuse of the system to some extent, and that could stay around, but why not offer the ability to add further support to more than one community of your choice in a similar fashion as you would see on twitch or other platforms that support gifting/donations of premium services?
Sorry in advance for the wordiness of this post, and thank you for considering this as an option.

Yes, I agree. It would be really really nice if donation could be aimed at the server specifically and if the server could be the "boss" when it came to it's perks.

Boosts should not just be Nitro features. Not everyone can afford the $9.99/month. But more can afford $1 or even $3.
2 -
@Zacatero I don't need any of the nitro perks I only need better voice quality on my server. But developers of discord didn't think about that.
Teamspeak on the other hand does and if not for their ui I would definetly be on TS rn.
1 -
Or like I suggested. Let server owners just buy all those perks in monthly packages instead of relying on other people to give the boosts to us
1 -
I don't mind paying a monthly subscription for the lvl 3 server boosts, but don't make us rely on others to get the boosts or force us to make 50 different accounts just to server boost ourselves to lvl 3
1 -
Really, down votes? You guys want to rely on others when discord could just simply offer a monthly server boost subscription and then not have to wait around for others to boost your server?
1 -
The idea behind making it community based is that it creates a focus on building your discord community. For the majority of discord servers, this would certainly apply. For the smaller portion of people, who own purposefully small servers, and want this benefit, I think that's not a terrible idea.
That said, having your community work towards a goal of 50 contributions INCREASES the social value and connections of your community. I'm fairly confident that was the point behind all this.
0 -
I don't want to increase the social value of my community. I want the quality friends I have in there, not just throwing as many bodies at it as I can just to hopefully get $500/m to Discord.
As a server owner, I would gladly pay my Nitro fee just to have my server sit at Level 3 all the time. I only have Nitro to support its development. I would rather support it and give my server the benefits than give myself the games I have never touched.1 -
The idea of boosting as a whole since it's original beta launch on May 10th has always been to draw communities together to achieve the Level 3 boosting goal, in no way should it be a paid subscription to achieve what other servers have to work hard for and rally their members together to receive, that's just extreme pay to win.
Not every server can make it to Level 3 and they understand that, not everyone can pay for Nitro Games either to be able to boost, but it's about rallying together the Nitro subscribers you do have in your server to achieve the boosting goals over time and finally get to that Level 3 when you can for the ultimate rewards together. Being able to purchase a Vanity URL and other features that are normally only available to Partners, Level 3 boosters and Verified servers seems extremely scummy and rude to those that worked hard for such features for their server(s).
The whole concept of Discord is about communities, and that's exactly what Nitro Boosting is about as well, not paying a certain fee for specific features (other than Nitro itself of course), you put people together in communities and they work together as a group to get the different levels, which is the exact opposite of your idea: "You guys want to rely on others when discord could just simply offer a monthly server boost subscription and then not have to wait around for others to boost your server?"
TL;DR: Boosting and Discord itself is about the community, not simply paying fees or subscriptions for things others work really hard for.
-1 -
I agree with original OP - I would just like to pay for my own server's features if it's all the same.
The Boost thing really only works for large servers that are looking for constant growth. Its put's the server owner in the position of trying to recruit and/or sell Nitro subscriptions to it's server members. Discord is literally getting it's users to work as sales reps and paying them with emoji and bandwidth; and ultimately asking for $500 dollars a month for these features. To ignore that is naive at best.

I will just leave this here

There are plenty of valid reasons for Server owners to want to pay for these benefits on smaller servers where they never will obtain them in any other way. I for one would love the higher bitrate audio for my music bots I have dedicated listenters but I dont want to have to beg them for boosts. and it wouldnt work anyways. Higher Filesize limit etc... So many things I've love to have bu I literally have no option of ever getting them.
Let me give you my money, basically.2 -
I think boosters should be like server currency. Once you've spent it, it's there forever, and the only way to refund it is if the server is deleted or if the server manager simply returns all the boosts back.
You should be able to purchase more boosts and spend them on servers, for a price like $1-2 as Patrick6 said. That way, you don't have to manage one boost that make servers lose progress if you want to use it on another server.
You should also be able to get boosts without a Nitro subscription. It would be an easy way to help Discord without the commitment of Nitro or Nitro Classic. Not everyone is willing to put in $5 a month, but a dollar or so sometimes is reasonable. Or, if it would make less sense to do that, at least make server boosting available to Nitro Classic users.
I think Discord themselves are in the baby phases of this feature, and I'm sure they are up for suggestions on how to improve it. Allowing the purchases of infinite boosts would be a great way to help servers and help Discord.

So what's the point to pay for Nitro Games ? They make server boost possible for nitro games on purpose of the advantage that Server Boost gives to the server :/ If everyone can boost if they pay just one or two dollards then paying nitro games for something else than games will be very useless

Neeeh, it's not a good idea. 0
