Signal and WhatsApp are like this. Discord (at least PMs) should be too!

    +1 for E2E Encryption.

With the announcement that Discord is being expanded to be a more widely used Communications platform than just for Gamers, we have decided to investigate the possibility of using your platform as the main communications system for our regional political association.
    However I now have concerns.
Due to the private and sometimes controversial nature of local politics, I am concerned about finding out that Discord does not use E2E encryption other than straightforward HTTPS.
We are looking to use the system to run Political debates, Private policy meetings, Debate clubs and Weekly Constituent surgeries, as well as Video AGMs and other such meetings and chats, but with no encryption we are stuck with using a mixture of other systems including whats app.
We are of course happy to pay for such a system.
Can you please let me know if I am wasting my time, or are you planning on implementing E2E encryption, even if only as part of your Nitro paid service.
With over 650 Constituencies in the UK alone, and on average 5 to 6 political Parties per constituency. Thats alot of political groups looking for a secure platform to be able to discuss political issues in private.

Discord is an awful company, look at their TOS. Just read this stupidity!

"By uploading, distributing, transmitting or otherwise using Your Content with the Service, you grant to us a perpetual, nonexclusive, transferable, royalty-free, sublicensable, and worldwide license to use, host, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display Your Content in connection with operating and providing the Service."

So they want complete ownership of any content we upload to their website, they cant have this if proper e2e encryption is implemented. Discord was a good nobel company at first now it's a greedy mess of people trying to exploit the user base as much as possible. I will never buy Nitro because I DON'T want to support a company like this!

We want end to end encryption! If discord isn't selling user data, there is no reason not to implement it. Signal and Riot.im have demonstrated that keys can be safely exchanged across platforms. It should also be on by default for all DMs and small servers (not public/large servers).

WhatsApp doesn't support a desktop version nor screenshare.  We want to use Discord, but it's not end-to-end encrypted as far as I know.

privacy are a human right but discord will never add E2E encryption cause they wanna share data with third parties, if you really wanna send a sensetive information to a discord chat you should encrypt the message with a public key and the other should decrypt it with the private key he have (encrypting and decrypting manually) and the best you can encrypt with are RSA

    +1 for E2E.

Absolutely necessary for company to get ahead of this in order to survive in the future in my opinion.  I truly believe a privacy revolution is coming

Discord isn’t spying it. Like all apps they have access to every message cached. All social media apps have access to this (staff).
