an Option for Offline List still visible in channels with only a few members after server reached 1000 Members
Hi.
We have a Discord Server for our Esport League and we reached 1.000 Members yesterday.
What was awaited like an awesome thing, quickly turned into the realisation, that we either need to kick inactive people, or future team management will be hell.
Why? Let me explain:
Even tho the Server has 1000 Members, there are never more than 150 - 200 people online at the same time.
We have restricted areas for Division 1 Teams, Division 2 Teams and our Staff Team.
Making the offline list hidden, hinders us from seeing who as acces to the channel.
Sure you can still go into the server settins and search by role, but I'd have to do that every day now and write down who is in that role, to see if someone added a person to a role.
Also if someone sets himself to appear offline, he will be hidden in those channels all the time.
Which again would require me to constantly check who has access to a role.
What do we use the offline list for?
- Seeing who has access to a channel (for EVERYONE, not only server admins!)
- Through the role color and the channel, finding a responsable person for my request.
Here again: I can go to the server setting, our members can not! - For server members: Finding an admin or caster for their request.
They will be unable to find us now, when we are offline and we can't be online 24/7
Suggestions?
- Make a client option to still show those offline members (maybe with a hint on performance issues)
- Make an option for offline list to be visible in restricted channels (or a hotkey could work as well)
- Least appealing: Make an option in the "right click" menu of a channel, to see who has access
There are probably a lot more things that I could list that are not coming to my mind right now.
I saw there are other threads with a similar request to this already, but non of them gave a reasoning that fits my usecase imo. Also I only was able to find them when typing the header to this post.
