The New Interface is Abysmal
Everything about the new interface I see is worse. The biggest faults would be the removal of the thin line separating messages, and the extra space added between individual lines of a single message. These two changes make for a chat layout that is rather difficult to make sense of sometimes, they make things feel, ironically, more cluttered and more counter intuitive.
Another problem is the new reaction menu and message highlight function, these make for an annoying experience when it comes to letting the mouse hover over the screen in a given location. Not only that, it makes the look of Discord less... "low profile". These are functions that should be able to be enabled or disabled in the user settings.
The conclusion is that Discord's overall layout as it was in January was most likely as perfected as it could get. It didn't need anything removed and it didn't need any more bells or whistles. My suggestion to you, along with what appears to be a large portion of your userbase, is to revert these changes and put the functions you planned to implement into the settings menus. That way, users will have even more ability to customize the layout of Discord to their liking.

The option to add space between the chat lines is under User Setting -> Appearance ->Message Display.
I can't find an option to put back the Floating reaction bar though. I'd rather the 3 dots appear on the very right like it used to. an option to put that back would be very nice.
