Please add an option to disable or change the message highlighting

When I scroll over messages, they now highlight and pop up a menu. I do not like this change, as its very disorienting to see the highlight move at high speeds when I swipe my mouse across the screen, and the pop-up menu is useless to me under most circumstances, and merely distracts my eyes from the messages I want to be reading instead. Perhaps, an option to change the highlight to only occur when clicking/double-clicking a message? This would remove both problems. Thank you for your time and consideration.
