New UI
Does discord have people willing to test out UI changes specifically before they get rolled out to the public? It may be a good idea next time to recruit people and look at their feedback. If that was done, then maybe try to get a wider audience. I've honestly not heard a positive thing about it-only negative and indifference. I know I have a small sample size compared to discord as a whole, but I know people who actually won't come back because it flares their mental disabilities and other's fear of change.
Personally, I find it draining and obnoxious to look at compared to the previous. I tried to give it a few days to see if I like it, but it hasn't gotten any better to look at personally. Accidentally reacting to things is way more common now for no reason as well. The unread message line pierces my screen, forcing itself upon my eyes where as the previous only suggested.
A lot of people came to discord because of its original sleek and good to look at AI and stayed for the friends they made on the platform. Some people will stay even if you did something dumber than this, like put a 15 second ad every time you tried to switch servers. ...lol pls dont. Either way, please continue giving the userbase what they want. I don't doubt that this will either get reverted or an option to revert be available under some kind of Discord Legacy UI type deal. I mainly went off on a tangent because I enjoy discord and don't want this company to turn into one that stops listening to its userbase because it feels too big or whatever other reason companies tend to do that.

I wouldn't call it a mental disability but I have a visual processing disorder that's very sensitive to color contrast (e.g. bright white background or super dark background strains my eyes or can even make me nauseous).
Before I updated the app, Discord was the app that always has been the easiest on my eyes due to the dark background that's not pure black with text that's not pure white. I updated it today and the color differences in the font have really aggravated my visual processing disorder, causing me to feel nauseous after reading messages for a relatively short amount of time.
The increased contrast between the message font and the background wouldn't be that much of an issue, but the contrast between the channel names and the backgrounds seems to have been lowered, so the constant adjusting has caused a lot of eye strain.
Would definitely appreciate at least an option to revert back!
