iOS UX failures, UI degradations.
After scanning over two months of recent topics about feedback on the mobile versions, I found very little direct and thorough input on the past few major updates to Discord on iOS and how it handles.
Sure, more comprehensive role colour options and individual problems like the `viewing older messages` bar and text changes [bold usernames, typeface size shifts, etc.] are important to raise separately. However, several flaws that arose in the past several months can—and perhaps should—be grouped into something like this, because they add up.
Simply put—
The iOS user experience is at its worst in all my time with Discord.
Not everyone has a fat-screened phablet that can afford unnecessary wastage of screen space, and I can see less actual text in a text channel than I ever have before on an iPhone 7. I don't want an IRC-style line-by-line barebones experience, but I want to see what I'm actually looking at, damnit!

I shouldn't have to scroll all the way back up through a channel to see a searched message in more context than a dozen messages either side, or readjust the entire search just to shift that context preview by a few messages.
Who agreed that 25-message chunks was better, anyway?
- I shouldn't have to rapidly tap somewhere to interrupt an unnecessary autoscroll back down to the latest messages when I close the `n+ messages unread` bar at the top of the screen.
-
I don't need "` you're viewing older messages | [ jump \/ ] `" when switching channels does that for me. I wouldn't even want it with my position in a text channel preserved, honestly. Can't trust that it gets implemented correctly, and it takes up too much screen space.
Google Docs' enhanced scroll bar on the iOS app [which the latest version of iOS overall has partly copied] does that job better.

I don't need the Nitro Gift button to be anywhere, since I don't intend to ever use Nitro in its current state, nor gift it to anyone.
It's annoyingly easy to hit, and utterly ridiculous.
- I don't need a giant coloured send button that disappears and reappears, since the little old one that never needed unnecessary volumes of purple was just fine.
-
I don't need a text field that wobbles and slides and jitters like startled jelly, since the old unbounded one was not just cleaner but less detrimental to look at.
Seriously, using it at all is an absolute eyesore that I actually needed to train myself to ignore, and I'm surprised nobody's made motion sickness complaints yet.

I shouldn't have to tap more than once to access a keyword search system that doesn't even search the full server / DM history [ w h i c h D i s c o r d h a s l o n g c l a i m e d ] in the first place.
Whatever happened to quick, easy searching?
Whatever happened to including absolutely everything the server's got?
And this when the server's barely even a year old!
My DMs with another user don't even go back as far as one year, but I can maybe see half of it!
-
I don't need superfluous amounts of movement on my screen every time I want to see more information.
I don't need a 'card-swap' when I look at or dismiss further details [mutual servers/friends, management as a moderator, changing nickname, et cetera].
I don't need my entire screen jerking to one side when I tap a channel / DM name.
Lots of things have gotten worse, and they should be addressed properly. I can hardly tolerate Discord on iOS now [and only do so out of necessity], when I could previously enjoy the experience.
