Dissimilar behaviour of emojis between desktop and mobile

While there is this fairly old post about a gap between emotes on mobile, there is another annoying little thing about emojis on mobile that does not happen on the desktop app.

So when I remove spaces between emotes on desktop, it works correctly

However, if I try the same on mobile, this happens
