    I'd love to have this too. There are some users like my SO as an example who I message to very often.

    +1 for this.

    I have only 2 servers active and many directs with my co-workers. When i m messaged i receive the notification and sender is pop-up in left server list. But when i open it his avatar disseapears immediately.

    Wil be great to pin some users (often used) to the left side.
