Screen Readers and the New Layout
Hello, I was wondering if there was some way to switch back to the older Discord interface. I use a screen reader, JAWS to be precise, and the changes I've seen in the new interface sometimes get in the way of being able to navigate easily. Some things I've noticed include, 1. At the top of my screen, where recent conversations are, everything is in one huge, blodgy block of text and it's hard to separate names. 2. It no longer tells me if people are active or not, and the status messages next to people's names were a really neat feature. 3. It no longer tells me a user's real name and server name when I am in servers. Previously it did, and that was also a pretty handy feature. 4. Whenever anyone is typing in a conversation, Discord now alerts me to it regardless of where I am on the page, interrupting whatever text I am currently reading to tell me. It also sometimes has the effect of changing my focus, so that if many people are typing I have to read the same message half a dozen times or so. 5. The servers I am a member of seem to have been condensed from a list layed out at the top to a combobox that needs to be opened and the options for servers sifted through. This makes it a little slower and clunkier to move from server to server, and also makes it a lot more difficult to tell if I've been at-mentioned or alerted in a server. There is also the fact that lots of new headings have popped up all over the pages, which is slightly jarring because I used to navigate through by moving from graphical element to graphical element because there weren't as many headings, but that's just growing pains I think. The headings are pretty useful and once I remember to I'll start using them as much as I do on typical webpages. Thanks for any help or possible advice.
