New direct messages are kind of hidden. How about a pop up?

Direct messages go unseen because they look just like servers. Many websites and apps these days have some kind of pop up function to allow you to quickly respond to friends without leaving the page you're on. I think a pop up feature would be a significant improvement to ease and efficiency.
