Temporarily mute in-app banner notifications

I'm using iOS

In the app, when people send messages on servers I am in (that I don't have muted), there will be banner notifications on the top. However, the banner blocks the buttons on the top such as search, server settings (I am a server admin on a couple servers), and direct messages button. I could swipe it down, but if someone sends a message after, I get another banner. I could do this several times and it finally stops, but several seconds later, there will be more banner notifications.

I do not want to permanently mute all servers or permanently disable banner notifications. But it would be a good feature to mute banner notifications (or all notifications) for a set amount of time.
