Some personal ramblings about the new Emoji/Gif bar
Why is everything so bloated and huge inside such a small box? This might look pretty (to some people), sure, but it's very hard to use quickly and efficiently. If you're visually impaired this might be great for you! and I'm glad that it's a feature. But accessibility means options. As someone who has a sensory processing disorder when things are blown up and huge and I have to look through a sea of these giant images it just becomes very overwhelming, very quickly. I'd propose a setting to be able to change the scale of the emojis so that it can be less cluttered for people who'd prefer the images to not be so big.
I am in a lot of servers. I've hit the max many times because I just never leave discord servers, I'm obsessed with archiving, that's just how I like to use discord. It is very annoying to see every single server with custom emojis that I'm in at the side of the bar at all times. It is more annoying to have to scroll through every single server I'm in with a single custom emoji every time I want to get back to my frequently used. It's great that I can press a single button and get to the default emojis! That's wonderful! It does however become a problem when I want to go back, because there's no "return to top" button to stop me from having to scroll through 55 server icons.

I like that I can close the tabs on certain emoji groups. This is is a nice feature I think, I tend not to use certain emoji sets and it certainly helps me figure out where I am much easier.
I wish that that sort of feature could be used on the side bar, so that I could hide certain ones I don't want to use, I think that would solve a lot of my issues.
I feel like I need to add that I don't have Nitro. I can't use custom emojis outside of the servers they're from, which I'm sure adds to my disinterest in seeing them all. I can't say anything for people who do have Nitro on that matter, but considering I functionally can't use these emojis outside of their server, I don't understand the point of being forced to scroll through them except for maybe being advertised Nitro every time I accidentally click on one.
I've seen some people having issues with the search feature as well? But I personally haven't had any issues with that so just a note to try and fix up bugs with it all, as all new features are bound to have bugs.
I have reduced motion on, because I can't handle the darkening of messages whenever I hover over them (And that is the ONLY problem I have that applies to reduced motion, the fact that I can't pick and choose those options is very annoying but that's besides the point of this particular feedback.) so when I scroll through the emojis instead of the sidebar moving with the scroll, it moves in this very jerky awkward chop as I scroll over each section. It's a bit jarring and I wish it was a little bit smoother? Or just simply didn't move at all.
And lastly, I don't know if this is simply a problem with my own settings but it doesn't line up with the actual sections that are on screen, simply scrolling once on the side bar for every time I scroll on the main section, so obviously it can't catch up if I have tabs minimized.
Now... The combination of the Gif bar into the Emoji-picker. This is the one that really confounds me. If you have more than four gifs it's become incredibly difficult to scroll through especially with the already strange sizing of gifs. If I have a particularly tall but thin gif it's still going to take up half of the screen, but it's going to be the same length, obviously... meaning this particular one takes up the length of eight of my other gifs. It's just kind of weird formatting for a box this small.

I think the gif bar worked much better as a larger tab because gifs are moving and some of them are detailed. It works better for them to be a larger tab and to keep them as large images because they're different than emojis. Emojis are small, undetailed flat (usually) images that are supposed to be able to be used in conjuncture to text. You can put emojis inside of text, you usually can't for gifs, at least not in discord. (Animated emojis are a whole other mess but I'm going to lump them in with emojis for the sake of ease.) If it wasn't already a nightmare to scroll through the large bloated emojis in the small box, it's even worse to scroll through the gif bar.
Why do you have two buttons for the same exact thing Discord?

You just added bloat to your site, this doesn't actually change anything significant. They even work in conjunction to one another, they connect and will light up if you click one or the other. Why? Why is this a thing? It only serves to better "connect" the two tabs... Which, why do they need to be connected? It literally takes the same amount of effort to click one or the other- It was never hard to switch between them in my experience. Not to mention who uses emojis and gifs so interchangeably that you need them to be in the same tab? The only thing I can think of would be that it might make spamming easier but I'm not inclined to try.
Anyways that's my piece and I'm sure I'll affect nothing, but all these updates that hurt my eyes are starting to make me very tired. I hope stuff like this doesn't get worse than it already has, because the big overhaul before put my health in legitimate risk, and considering I had to wait months before I saw anything even even resembling an off button to stop me from vomiting all over my laptop every time I tried to talk to my friends, I'm not looking too hopeful about all the other things that might be added for the "aesthetic".
Hope everyone is doing well in quarantine. I don't have any ill wishes on any devs and I'm sure everyone is trying their best, but you know. Critique and feedback.

How did you get the Emoji bar, I had it a few days ago, but it seems to have removed itself recently.
