"Claim your nitro" bot scam

So, i got this DM from a bot called "Claim your nitro" bot which told me that i could get free nitro by clicking a "link" to accept and add the bot. This bot is obviously a scam which needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. This bot is not a ip logger its basically a server nuker.

    it showed as claim your nitro bot, and the message is: This is the official discord bot for nitro giveaways, please click on this link to claim yours. The gift expires in 35 hours.

    Fab.ian, Bots can gain access to email, linked accounts and way more if you give them access via the oAuth login system. (The thing where you click "Authorize")

    Dragon_ Got it from scambot#4160 too, exact same message, even the claim time. I also got like 4 messages from scambot about a new "Events-Manager | Premium" thing. Clearly a scam.

    Apparently Discord's method to fighting these con artists is to change their names to "scambot" as they continue making new accounts & dropping that link...  Not saying I expect it's going to be a enough, I think the better method would be to block the link itself from even being shown when they attempt to post it (preferably with an automatic IP ban & deactivation of the account), but I guess it's at least something; seems they haven't realized that their names are getting force-changed as they continue to run this same scam (probably a legitimate bot that they aren't monitoring in this case).

    so this is still continuing then? Not surprising since discord moderation is slow. Well yeah could of just ip ban or deactivate but it could be from multiple IP sources. Who knows.

    I was in a voice chat with friends and got this from a bot.... After taking precautions and clicking on the link, it turned out to be an invitation to a "nitro for invites" type server. Here's the message:

    Just got the same a ona brand new server the has be just set up fpr a small community..I warned everyone i use the no script browser addon(Can be found both chrome and firefox ) for script blocking like this recommend everyone to use it is a small hassle you have to use when you open a site you never opened before.

    I clicked the link the link is located somehow in russian federation might be cover you never know.

    i got a dm from a bot called etheral which claims it grows your server at insane speeds. It makes you join about 50 servers just to claim fake nitro. WTF.

    Hello, I got a scam like this. I noticed it today. Yep, that is the scam. When you click on the link on Opera GX (idk what happens on other browsers) the browser says the website is linked to FRAUD. Yes, actual FRAUD. ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. When you click on the link it shows this message:From MerlAnimates, proud member of the HypeSquad.

    I just got the Link from a friend earlier today didn't know it was a scam so i clicked it and give my username and password. After a few hours later i got this. Anyone who got their account back?

    The fact that you got the link from a friend (depending on how long you knew them & you don't just add everybody as a friend that sends you an invite), they probably had their account compromised & the thief started sending out invites over their account, the same is likely happening with your account at this point & is probably going to get banned under the impression of being one of those bots (or at least renamed as "scammer" or something along those lines, as they've been doing rather than actually taking care of the issue, which could be done with some URL filters).

    You likely won't get your account back, best chance in getting it back would be to contact Discord support about your stolen account, but in all likelihood, the damage is already done & you're probably better off making a new account rather than continuing to use that account even if you do get it back...

    What I've done with my account is I have multi-factored security on my account, both with the app on my phone for account security, as well as multi-step authentication on my server to avoid any permanent damage should an attempt to steal my account be made. With this known problem of mass account theft attempts, it would be smart for others to make use of these security functions.
