There should be a way to see who is in a server before you join

Sometimes I want to join certain servers but I worry about the prospect of who might be in it. I'm not exactly on good terms with some people and joining a fandom-based server that they're in is a tad awkward. I wish there was a way to view the users in the server before you join, to help with your decision.
